How has your time been at Carlton South?
I love working with this school community.
How long have you been at Carlton South?
Since 2010 as a deputy principal and I become the principal in 2015. I have been here for 15 years in total.
What has been a tough time at Carlton South?
I found Covid to be a very tough time for all members of the school community.
What was it like not being at school during Covid?
I was still coming to the school, but it was very busy time for families because of learning from home.
How many schools have you taught at?
Three long term schools which were Beverly Hills, Loftus and Carlton South.
What would you make better at our school?
More resources for students, new computers and more funding for education.
What was your favourite subject at school?
I like reading and writing best when I was in primary school. In high school I enjoyed English and History.
Do you have a favourite sport?
My favourite sport is rugby league. I like cricket and boxing also.
What is your life like outside of school?
My like is very busy with my four young kids.
How many schools have you taught in?
I have taught at five different schools over the course of my career. Each one has given me unique experiences and memories that have helped shape me as a teacher.
When you were our age, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was your age, I dreamed of becoming an Olympic runner. I loved athletics and trained hard, imagining myself one day competing on the world stage.
How has your time been at Carlton South?
My time at Carlton South has been absolutely wonderful. The students, staff, and families are so kind and supportive. It truly feels like being part of a big, caring community.
What was it like not being at school during COVID?
Not being at school during COVID was very stressful. I missed the energy of the classroom, the students' smiling faces, and the routine of school life. It was a big adjustment for everyone.
What would you make better at our school?
If I could make changes, I'd make sure every class had its own set of laptops for learning, provide more in-class support for students and teachers, and maybe even add a few extra holidays to help everyone recharge.
What was your favourite subject at school?
My favourite subjects in school were P.E. and Drama. I loved being active, working as a team, and expressing myself creatively on stage.
Do you have a favourite sport?
Yes, my favourite sports are soccer and taekwondo. I enjoy the energy, discipline, and teamwork that both sports involve.
What is your life like outside of school?
Outside of school, I spend time with my grandma, enjoy reading, enjoy new recipes in the kitchen, and play soccer to active and fun.
Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have a dog named Shadow Hamer. She's full of energy and always ready for an adventure!
